First Presbyterian Church is a historical building in downtown Fairbanks. Built originally in 1955, it was subsequently added on to and renovated in 1965 and 1991. In 2002, Bettisworth North was hired to help the congregation create a Guide for Church Growth to respond to the needs of a growing congregation. This document was used as a planning resource in evaluating the existing facility and outlining the immediate and future needs of the Church. Detailed programming, assessments and schematic spatial allocations were created to outline these findings.

The result is an approximate $2.8 million dollar, 10,000 sf addition and renovation project that is currently in its schematic phase. The new addition includes a new 400-seat Sanctuary, Narthex, Administration offices, Nursery, Toilet rooms and miscellaneous support spaces.

The renovation of the existing facility will include a new fellowship hall space, and renovated Christian education classrooms accommodating all age groups and adults.
