Kodiak Hall FY00 Enlisted Dormitory, Elmendorf Air Force Base

The U.S. Armed Forces is in the process of upgrading living quarters for their personnel. This project was the first of these enlisted personnel dormitories to be constructed at Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska. Elmendorf Air Force Base is located on glacial till bluffs overlooking Cook Inlet.
This is a spectacular setting, with mountains and inlet all around. The common spaces and associated circulation system form a dramatic and lighted element at the principal building entry. The sloped roofs, dormers, balconies, exterior surface treatments, covered walkways and landscaping all add to the residential quality of the structure.
