University of Alaska, Fairbanks,
A new entry porch and storage space replaced a structurally decrepit canopy for the William Ransom Wood Campus Center building on the University of Alaska Fairbanks campus, originally built in 1971. The edges of the roof are curved to allow the reflection of upward facing electric fixtures off white metal panels in the dark winter months.
With the new entrance, students and visitors are greeted by an entry that communicates a sense of openness through the light and generosity of space.
