Fairbanks, Alaska
Bettisworth North's original 1983 office building was a wood frame two story structure with basement. In 2001, an addition was constructed consisting of an occupied basement with light well, first floor office suite, and a second floor high bay office studio space, with mezzanine and outside deck, and the existing structure was renovated to upgrade finishes and bring the building into code compliance.
The result is a facility that is a pleasant and functional working environment, is an asset to Fairbanks' riverfront, a facility that symbolically reflects old and new structures, and reflects the design opportunities of Alaska's Interior, including the wonderful natural light present year round.
