Charles B. Bettisworth, AIA, Principal

Charles Bettisworth founded the firm of Charles Bettisworth and Company in 1976 (Charles Bettisworth and Company became Bettisworth North in 2007). He is Principal in Charge of all projects by the firm. He has worked in this capacity on many successful projects, including the new Alaska Railroad Passenger Terminal in Fairbanks, the Alaska Army National Guard Headquarters in Anchorage, and the Rabinowitz State Courthouse in Fairbanks. Current projects include renovations and additions to the Fairbanks International Airport, and design of the Morris Thompson Cultural and Visitor Center in Fairbanks. Mr. Bettisworth was also Project Architect for the firm's highly acclaimed Southeast Alaska Visitor Information Center in Ketchikan, Alaska.

Charles Bettisworth's lifelong love of Alaska, and the city of Fairbanks in particular, runs deep. His professional career, spanning more than 40 years, has been devoted to the design of quality buildings which are sustainable for the long term within each unique climate of Alaska, which maximize the use of daylighting and green building techniques to the extent possible, and provide each client with a facility that fits their needs and budget.

In addition, Mr. Bettisworth has served the State of Alaska in many capacities; such as chairman and member of the State of Alaska Local Boundary Commission from 1981-1991, and chairman and member of the FRANK Committee (Fiscally Responsible Alaskans Needing Knowledge) since 1977.
